Young People's Icelandic Language Award 2025
Yesterday, 47 students from primary schools in Reykjavík and Borgarbyggð received the Young People's Icelandic Language Award. The awards are presented each year in honor of Icelandic Language Day on Nov. 16, and the ceremony was held in Harpa's Northern Lights Hall. This marks the 19th time the awards were presented, and Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, patron of the awards, graced the event with her presence.
The Young People's Icelandic Language Award aims to foster primary school students' interest in the Icelandic language and is given to those who have shown exemplary skill in using the language or made significant progress during the year.
Students at Seljaskóli — Högni in grade 4, Tinna Karen in grade 6 and Eva Rós in grade 10 — all received awards for exemplary achievement in Icelandic. Each has shown remarkable passion for the language, ability to express themselves clearly, a talent for creative writing, and are avid readers.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Högni, Tinna Karen and Eva Rós and their families on the awards and thank them for being valuable role models in our school community.
