Dear parents and guardians
Starting this fall, Seljaskóli will be a phone-free school. This important initiative requires strong collaboration between families and the school, which is why we are pleased to invite you to a special parent information session.
On Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 6:00 p.m. in Askur (the cafeteria), Skúli Bragi Geirdal, media researcher and Director of the Icelandic Cyber Security Center, will present "The algorithm that's raising me."
He will discuss:
- How social media and smart devices are designed to capture attention.
- The online environment and challenges for Icelandic children.
- Communication, harassment, and predatory online tactics.
- Age limits and parental responsibility.
- Media literacy and artificial intelligence.
This presentation will offer practical information and helpful advice that all parents can use to support their children in the digital world.
