Open House 2025

Open house

Theme week and open house

Last week, school activities at Seljaskóli were shaped by courage, challenges and inner strength as students combined their efforts in a powerful themed project based on the "Orri óstöðvandi" (Unstoppable Orri) book series by Bjarni Fritzson. Through various projects, students explored how we can grow and develop by overcoming obstacles and moving forward — just as Orri does in the books.

The focus was on creativity, self-empowerment and collaboration — and the results were absolutely remarkable! The themed days concluded with an open day last Wednesday when parents and guardians were invited to view all the outstanding projects the students had created.

The guest of honor was none other than the author of the books himself, Bjarni Fritzson. He remained with us throughout the entire open day, examined the themed project results and expressed immense pride and admiration for the students' creativity and work. In the library, he chatted with students and signed autographs. The library also featured an idea box where Bjarni collected suggestions from students about what they would like to see in the next Orri book.

At the end of the day, Bjarni presented awards for a fantasy makeup competition held in the upper primary school. He also presented recognition awards to three teams from 6th and 7th grades who participated in an exciting breakout competition during the themed days, where the challenges were connected to the Orri books.

The school was buzzing with activity — featuring various stations, a café, exhibits, art, physical activities and games. A large number of guests attended and the atmosphere was exceptional. Students took pride in their work while visitors admired the creativity, ambition and joy that characterized the day.

The day's events were a tremendous success and truly a celebration! More photos available on Seljaskóli's Facebook page!
